El lago Cholila se forma por el deshielo de glaciares que descansan en las más altas cumbres de provincia de Chubut, como el cerro 2 picos de 2515 msnm y el cerro 3 picos de 2.492 msnm.
En este escenario de lagos y montañas habita gran diversidad de flora y fauna que se nos presentan al recorrerlo. la cuenca del lago ofrece bahías reparadas de playas con arenas blancas, bosque de Coihues, Cipreses, Arrayanes, Lengas, etc. y al adentrarnos en sus bosques podemos tener la fortuna de encontrarnos con los animales que allí habitan, como el huemul, ciervo colorado, jabalíes, puma, etc. En los puntos panorámicos, generados por la misma topografía del lugar podemos contemplar además del lugar, el vuelo de cóndores, águilas y otras aves.
